How to find or change the server port number ??????

I am a student and in my coll access to many websites are blocked and …….. downloading software have been using the proxy 'your freedom'….. Although they are provided access to all sites is damn slow ….. I know IP address of our web server, but that change the port number …. Once you find the server port number i can download at speed … So How to search and change the server port number ….. or is there any way to download at speeds faster than going through the server firewall ?????? I am really in need of this answer …… someone plz help ………….
