How I can change from http to a socks proxy server?
I'm trying to access a chat room of my home computer and I keep getting the following message: "You may be trying to connect through an HTTP proxy server. VolanoChat The applet can not connect to the server via VolanoChat HTTP proxy server, and that does not communicate via HTTP. Try changing the connection to a SOCKS proxy server or try to use a network address translation (NAT) router to the firewall, if any of these options are available to you. VolanoChat works well through firewalls using SOCKS or NAT. The network administrator may be able to help you change your configuration to work with VolanoChat. "I use Vista. So any help would be greatly appreciated, please keep it simple because
The message that if you are using a proxy and an HTTP proxy, switch to a SOCKS proxy instead. But if you are not using any kind of power (As is typical for a connection at home), there is nothing to change – in these circumstances, the message itself does not make sense and is leading astray. Maybe chat service requires you to open an additional port in the firewall. (The firewall may be integrated with the Internet base station or can be part of its operating system software [especially in Vista].) What do you see for the proxy settings of your browser (something like Tools-> Options Internet-> Connections () -> [LAN Settings])? (Is it maybe a white or gray or without control?) One of the common causes of such problems the computer is connected to the Internet differently than you think it is. If you have a wireless connection, make sure your wireless is working very basis, and check your computer to find out what is really connected wireless. Perhaps (unbeknownst to you) your computer is connected to a neighbor's wireless technology, and have some kind of filter.
