how to use proxy server with firfox?

i downloaded the proxy tool bar for Firefox but when i go to websites and get free proxy addresses and add them to the list it seems ok but when i try to use the i can’t go to any webpages i either get a could not load error and some other kind of error;
what am i doing wrong? i give it a name add the ip address put change proxy to 0 sec.

You can set a proxy in Firefox without downloading anything aditional. Tools -> options -> connection settings.

You could have picked a proxy that doesn’t work well or has gone down, try another, usually I need to try 4 or 5
