NCC Issues Ultimatum for Registration of SIM Cards
It is now official: the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has given an ultimatum that all new Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card holders in Nigeria must be registered before activation as from March 1, 2010. This is aimed at tracking the identities of subscribers, following frequent complaints of the use of mobile phones for crimes such as threat, blackmail and fraud.
