First, do not even bother to think of committing any crime over the Internet. That'll get caught. If you're reading this article, so one can assume that there is no way to really hide yourself safe. ISP all records. Well, there are certain things you can do, but if you have the skills to perfection its IP layer, then why bother reading?
In fact, why bother trying to surf the web anonymously? Well, there some sites simply will not let you in if you are, for example, in India. Or you can get a site banned. Or, just have to be paranoid.
First, you might want to get rid of your (browser) cookies. If you use Firefox, you should create a new profile, so you do not need cookies. Then, if To hide the identity of your browser, you can do it manually, or you can install the User Agent Switcher add on.So, you get rid of cookies and have a nice header False User-Agent in your order. There is a limit 64 kb / s for free accounts, but most of the sites that block the Tor network traffic not to block these IP addresses. I can use their freedom to play the game Mabinogi online, which blocks of IP addresses from outside the U.S..
When you find a proxy server (or install one), you can set your browser to use, but that is not enough in some cases. Some sites use hidden Java applets or Flash elements to see if the applet is connected from the same IP the browser. This can make you arrested. To avoid that, you can configure your system to use the proxy, or configure the software selectively. In Linux, this can be done with (a bit) configuration simple, but in Windows, you may want to install software that require connections to tunnel through proxy. Programs such as Proxifier, ProxyCap, etc. You can configure the programs you want to tunnel through the proxy, or, if you want to be 100% sure that nothing escapes, you can hide all traffic (except proxy server, of course). Note that their freedom is a Java application, so if you want to configure it to connect directly (i bet you wish), the executable is something like "c: windowssystem32javaw.exe.
So, now you've (somewhat) anonymous, you may want to check, just to be safe. I like to use aruljohn.com shows some additional (and useful) information.
Out.You may want to try Google for some generators identification random, there are a few really good out there. Just in case you need a name, address, telephone number, credit card number, number social insurance, etc. Also, to be sure that nothing escapes, you can check with Wireshark.
