Linux squid proxy authorization?
I just setup a proxy server and I want to know How can I set the password in Internet Explorer (or elsewhere), so you can control who is using my squid. I know I can do this by creating a firewall. If I may an IP, a group of users on the LAN can use squid. But I know that the group is using. so I want to control it by creating a password in IE or elsewhere. Anybody know how to or have any other suggestions, you can do the same thing?
1) Create a password file using htpasswd — see link below use. 2) Put a link to the password file in your squid.conf configuration using proxy_auth directive. See second link. 3) Restart the squid (squid-k reconfigure) 4) users who connect to the Squid server is presented with a system password when connecting to sites that require authentication content in the ACL.
