SSH secure tunnel problem?

After much work I have ssh up and running XP on my computer, I put putty on a USB drive and wrote a small batch script to connect (tunnel port 8080, port 80) and ports are forwarded on a router. I successfully connected to my home computer using Putty on the USB drive on another machine. My problem is I can not navigate, while Firefox thought the tunnel, I have socks proxy localhost 8080, but the pages usual load, that is because I am frustratig connected and can browse the computer with ssh, but I can not surf the net through it. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Are you using a proxy like squid in the ssh server? Can not use SSH by itself as a SOCKS proxy.
