SSH is open Wi-Fi safe?

I created this type of connection diagram for use. Tell me how to get my data. I use a laptop in the library, which has open unencrypted Wi-Fi. I use this open Wi-Fi to connect to my desktop at home via a secure SSH Tunnel. Then my desktop before my HTTP / SOCKS requests and act as a proxy then sends the information back to me in the library. Is this protection plan information and makes it impossible for a middle man to see my data? If not, what solutions can you think?

It depends on what you are trying to protect. If Shopping on the Web or access e-mail, then the sessions are usually safe. Normally you get a lock on your browser which indicates the block. Given that these connections are safe since they are double encryption, which is of little or no value assuming that the confidence of the SSL connection. If you do not trust the SSL connections, are in trouble then. Your connection is secure only from the library to your desktop, but not sure from the desktop to the Internet. Some web mail programs only encrypt the login, but end the SSL connection is authenticated when. Gmail is an example, but it has a secure site that keeps all the encrypted session. This solution obviously only works for web sites that support this. In short yes you are protecting anyone in the intelligence of the library in which you are surfing, but for the most part (by mail) all the cool stuff is already encrypted, but the privacy of your solution will work. FYI all encryption can be hacked over time the brute force of his cause strong enough encryption that when the hack is complete the data is no longer viable (ie credit card numbers from maturity).
