Proxy407 bypass?
Hi folks, I've started a new job and is a very small team and I'm supposed to have Internet access yet I have a problem that prevents me allows me to do the job properly, when I open IE (I'm using XP) page of the company intranet opens, but when I open a web page that asks user name and password that is not 407 Proxy and then says I get an error, is there any way to change this so they do not ask, usually the IT team to help me either to the person making the IT, but that is out of sick time and no one appointented term in place (which itself can cause problems if there are any serious problem occour team! but the company is set with the money, I can say!) Any help would be appreciated than you pack on the job and get a decent one with some kind of support!
OK, this is a bit tricky, because what we are asking is how to bypass the proxy server which obviously has been put into the system to stop the unauthorized use of outbound Internet, and provide a solution, I run the risk of serious *** p tion of a large number of administrators IT. However, all I can give you part of the solution anyway, so here goes. The computer has an IP address, which will be something like 192.168.xx, 10.10.xx etc. If you open or the network card properties and open the TCP / IP, or show a fixed address, subnet and gateway otherwise say it is using DHCP. If a fixed (static), the important direction is the front door, as if the door is the proxy that is blocking. If using DHCP, then close all the boxes on the network you just open and click Start, Run and type cmd to open a DOS window, type ipconfig. Again, This will address all important gateway .. ok. that was the easy part. The fact is that the network router that connects to the outside world is unlikely to have the same direction as the front door. The problem is that you need the address of the routers. For example, your gateway is 192.168.1.200. The router may be 192.168.1.201, and again could be any direction, because IT managers tend to make completely different direction to stop exactly this kind of stuff! A solution really good for this for you is to ask a colleague to do the following. Click Start> Run> (cmd) Now type: tracert yahoo.com This will show your path to get to yahoo.com. The first address displayed is probably the proxy server. The second is your gateway. Once you have this information, go back to your computer and just change the gateway address to match the one just discovered. I can not guarantee this will work because there are a number of other factors this and no doubt in my network would fail because the proxy server changes the subnet address and stop you doing this. If all else fails, just give the man a ring! Hope that helps a little. Oh and another thing, treating management as both the username and password that is sad how often that works! IT@tonicweb.co.uk
